Before you begin:

* Download the Starlink App: This is crucial for guiding you through the setup, checking for obstructions, and managing your network. It's available on iOS and Android.

* Find a clear view of the sky: This is the most critical step for optimal performance. Use the "Check for Obstructions" tool in the Starlink App to find the best location for your dish. Even small obstructions can cause service interruptions.

* Unbox your Starlink Kit: Familiarize yourself with the components: the Starlink dish (Standard or Flat High Performance), Gen 3 Router, cables, and power supply.

General Installation Steps for Starlink Gen 3 (Dish and Router):

* Set up the Starlink Dish:

* Standard (Gen 3) Dish: This dish usually comes with a kickstand for ground-level placement. For best results, use the kickstand to tilt the Starlink. If a clear view isn't possible from the ground, consider an elevated location like a roof or pole (additional mounts may be needed and sold separately).

* Flat High Performance Dish: This dish may come with a wedge mount. Ensure it's installed on a structurally sound, horizontal surface.

* Connecting the cable: Plug one end of the provided Starlink cable into your Starlink dish. Make sure it's fully seated and clicks into place.

* Powering the dish: Connect the other end of the Starlink cable to the power supply, then plug the power supply into an electrical outlet.

* Automatic Alignment (for some models): Some Starlink models will automatically level themselves and search for satellites. Do NOT attempt to manually adjust your Starlink dish. For manual alignment (like with the Standard and Mini models), the app will guide you to position the dish.

* Set up the Gen 3 Router:

* Plug in the Router: Connect the Gen 3 Router to a power outlet using its power cable and power supply.

* Connect to existing Starlink (if using as a mesh node): If you're adding the Gen 3 Router as a mesh node to an existing Starlink network (e.g., with a Gen 2 Router), ensure your main Starlink system is already set up and connected to the internet. Connect your device to your existing Starlink WiFi network.

* Pairing the Gen 3 Router (for mesh nodes):

* Open the Starlink App.

* Wait 1-2 minutes for a "PAIR NEW MESH NODE" notification to appear.

* Click "PAIR" (or "Pair All" if multiple nodes). The Gen 3 Router will begin connecting on the NETWORK screen. This typically takes 1-2 minutes.

* Once connected, the router will appear on the NETWORK screen in the app, and its light should be solid white.

* Using as a base router (with an Ethernet adapter): If you want to use the Gen 3 Router as your primary router for a wired connection, you may need an Ethernet adapter (purchased separately) and the provided Ethernet cable. In the Starlink app, you might need to bypass your previous router's mode if you're replacing it.

* Optional: Secure your WiFi network: Open the Starlink App > Settings > Router, and enter your desired WiFi network name and password. Save these settings. Your Starlink WiFi network is not password protected until you set a password.

* Using the Extra RJ45 Ports: The Gen 3 Router has two RJ45 (Ethernet) ports. Remove the protective cover, and you can plug in your own Ethernet cable to connect to third-party hardware.

* Connect to Starlink WiFi: On your device (phone, laptop, etc.), find and connect to the "STARLINK" network in your WiFi settings.

* Check the Starlink App:

* The app will provide real-time status updates and guide you if any adjustments are needed for optimal alignment.

* It will alert you to any alerts, outages, or obstructions.

* You can check the WiFi router light for status (solid white: connected; red: cannot connect; flashing white: trying to connect; no light: no power).

Important Notes:

* Obstructions are key: Any object blocking the view between your Starlink and the satellites will cause service interruptions. Use the app's obstruction tool carefully.

* Cable routing: For permanent installations, you may need to run the cable through a wall. Starlink sells cable routing kits, including those for masonry walls.

* Troubleshooting: If you encounter issues, the Starlink App is your first resource. It has troubleshooting guides and allows you to contact Starlink Customer Support.

* Firmware updates: Your Starlink may need to download the latest software after initial setup for optimal performance. This usually happens automatically overnight.

For the most accurate and detailed instructions, always refer to the official Starlink setup guides and manuals provided with your kit, or visit the Starlink Help Center on their website (support.starlink.com).
